Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience

BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Directs the Women's Services (including OB/Nursery) department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Develops and implements Women's Services goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating and administrating disciplinary actions.

Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Is aware of and manages staffing and productivity to this end.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

Professional growth includes assuring all staff have current education and competencies as well as providing unit specific education opportunities.

Holds staff accountable by managing in the moment.

Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Assures quality of care by adhering to established best-practices and standards; writing and amending current policies to reflect updated standards and reflect past practice.

This includes measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and philosophies and standards of care set by the Tennessee Board of Nursing, and other governing agencies.
